Takasho Digitec Co., Ltd, a specialist outdoor lighting manufacturer, is located in Kainan, Wakayama Prefecture, and is represented by Ryosuke Furusawa. and Tangent, a global design studio located in the UK, London and Tokyo and is represented by Hideki Yoshimoto, will exhibit at Milano Design Week 2025, the world’s largest design event in Milan, Italy, from 7th April 2025, and has launched the outdoor lighting new brand, \u2018 yomosugara\u2019, to the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018yomosugara\u2019 is a new outdoor lighting brand that redefines \u2018Japanese lighting\u2019 with a contemporary design that is not bound by traditional Japanese lighting and uses soft light in harmony with the original Japanese landscape and nature, and proposes ways to spend the night in the garden.
At this Milano Design Week, we are exhibiting a total of seven products in three series – Shobu, Suiren and Kodama.
The exhibition venue, Cavallerizze at the National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci, has been created by randomly arranging each product on white gravel spotted with black oval plates, creating a space that evokes a natural rhythm that is not artificial. Through a layout with a blank space, yomosugara expresses original Japanese landscapes such as waterside and mountains. By placing it not in a typical Japanese-style garden, but in a space focused on black and white colours, it aims to give a strong impression of yomosugara’s natural plant forms, relaxing light and Japanese spirituality.
Also, through the simple and modern exhibit design, we hope that viewers will be able to imagine how yomosugara can be used in a variety of different spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a long-held desire to exhibit at Milano Design Week, and I am very excited that we have achieved this. I am excited to discover how the yomosugara series, based on the concept of \u2018 Redefining Japanese lighting\u2019, will be rated by creators from all over the world. It is hoped that new perspectives and creative dialogue will emerge through this fusion of traditional Japanese beauty and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am pleased to be able to present \u2018yomosugara\u2019 in Milan, which we developed with Takasho Digitec. It was a difficult design to create, but through the outdoor lighting technology that Takasho Digitec has been developing over many years, it was possible to achieve this in the form of a product. We are steadily preparing for the launch of the product and look forward to many people seeing it in Milan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by the dignified elegance of the iris flower, \u2018Shobu\u2019 is an indirect lighting fixture with a slender, sharp form that emits a soft, graceful glow. Kodama<\/strong>
Named after the spirits believed to inhabit trees, \u2018Kodama\u2019 features an organic form encased in a translucent shell, emitting a light that harmonizes with nature.The pathway lights include two adjustable luminaires, which can be arranged in sequence to create a dynamic, undulating effect. Meanwhile, the floor lamp, with its soft yet expansive glow, brings a calming presence to any space.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

A Collaboration Between Outdoor Lighting Experts Takasho Digitec and International Design Studio Tangent<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tangent, founded in London in 2015 by Hideki Yoshimoto, specializes in the progressive integration of design and engineering. The studio has collaborated with luxury brands such as Lexus and Herm\u00e8s and has contributed to high-profile projects, including animations for the facade of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper in Dubai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Takasho Digitec and Tangent have previously collaborated on several projects, including \u2018INAHO\u2019 showcased at Roppongi Art Night 2022, the Christmas tree installation at Midland Square, Nagoya (2022), the \u2018Gachirin\u2019 wall art at Ekoin Temple in Mount Koya, Wakayama Prefecture. Recognizing the potential in each other\u2019s expertise, the two companies formalized a partnership agreement in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
