Takasho Digitec Co Ltd, a specialist outdoor lighting manufacturer with headquarters in Kainan, Wakayama, Japan, CEO Ryosuke Furusawa, and Tangent, a global design studio based in London, UK and Tokyo, Japan, represented by Hideki Yoshimoto, are pleased to announce that the launch date for the new outdoor lighting brand \u2018yomosugara\u2019, which was exhibited at the Milano Design Week 2025 has been launched in Japan on 22 July 2025. Also, the product will be available for worldwide launch from August onwards.<\/p>\n\n\n

The \u2018yomosugara\u2019 is a new outdoor lighting brand that redefines \u2018Japanese lighting\u2019 with a modern design that is not restricted to traditional Japanese lighting and soft lights that harmonise with the original Japanese landscape and nature, and presents a new way of spending time in the garden at night.

From 7th to 13th April, Takasho Digitec exhibited for the first time at the Milano Design Week 2025 in Milan, Italy, and displayed seven products from the \u2018yomosugara\u2019 brand, including three series of \u2018Shobu\u2019, \u2018Suiren\u2019 and \u2018Kodama\u2019.
At the exhibition venue, the National Museum of Science and Technology \u2018Cavallerizze\u2019 in honour of Leonardo da Vinci, we created over white gravel with black oval shaped plates interspersed and each product placed at random, creating a space with a natural rhythm that is not look like an artificial. The simple exhibition design, which focused on black and white monochrome, succeeded in impressing the organic forms, restful lighting and Japanese spirituality of \u2018yomosugara\u2019.
During the exhibition, many people from the architecture and design fields visited us and gave us a variety of comments such as \u2018The futuristic and minimalist design is impressive\u2019, \u2018It has an innovative form that has never been seen before\u2019, \u2018It seamlessly integrates with nature\u2019 and \u2018I would like to incorporate this light when I design my own spaces\u2019, all of which spoke highly of its unique design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Line-up of products launched<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When the product is launched on the 22 July, there will be a total of four product types released from the three series Shobu, Suiren and Kodama with two types for Shobu and two types for Kodama.
As well as high performance in design, these products make use of the technology of Takasho Digitec, a manufacturer specialising in outdoor lighting with 20 years’ experience, in every detail, enabling the creation of new lights that have a strong presence but also harmonise with the surrounding environment and nature.
Also, by reducing costs through integrated manufacturing at our own factories in overseas countries and by adopting the low volt system* for safe and easy installation, we have achieved specifications that make it easy to introduce in terms of price and installation, despite its luxurious form.

The design of \u2018yomosugara\u2019 is not limited to the Japanese atmosphere, but can be incorporated into various spaces, and the aim is to introduce it into accommodation facilities such as Japanese-style inns and Western-style hotels and wedding facilities.
Also, aiming at international architects and designers who are interested in Japanese culture we will actively expand into the global market and take on the challenge of global expansion with \u2018yomosugara\u2019 as the main product. Also, the product will be available for worldwide launch from August onwards.

*Low-volt system: a lighting system that uses a low-voltage (12V\/24V) transformer to convert it to a lower voltage (12V\/24V) for lighting. Compared to 100V, it is safer and can be handled without requiring electrical installation qualifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Series of \u2018Shobu\u2019<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Shobu is the indirect lighting fixture modeled on the dignified shape of the Japanese iris. The slim and sharp shapes stand quietly and glow with a supple light. The line-up includes the Shobu double (two-light type), which lights the foot of paths, and the Shobu triple (three-light type), which adds depth to the space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kodama is named for the spirit that dwells in the trees. It is characterised by its organic form and the light covered by a clear coating, which creates a light that is in close contact with nature. The \u2018Kodama garden\u2019 with two light fittings, which can be adjusted to different heights and directions, creates a fluctuating landscape when multiple lights are used together. The \u2018Kodama floor\u2019 lights up the surroundings with its large, gentle light, creating a sense of presence and peacefulness even when lit by a single light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The light-emitting part, which spreads the light, is further covered with a clear glove to create a smooth light that blends in well with the natural environment, as if covered by a film of water.
The arm of the \u2018Kodama garden\u2019 can be extended and retracted, and the lights can also be rotated, allowing for a random arrangement of lights, such as when multiple lights are used together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Yomosugara\u2019 is an ancient Japanese word used in the Man’y\u014dsh\u016b (Japan\u2019s oldest poetry collection), meaning \u2018throughout the night\u2019 or \u2018all night long.\u2019 The name reflects the richness of time in which people in the past would spend the night contemplating landscapes and thoughts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Collaboration Between Outdoor Lighting Experts Takasho Digitec and International Design Studio Tangent<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tangent, founded in London in 2015 by Hideki Yoshimoto, specializes in the progressive integration of design and engineering. The studio has collaborated with luxury brands such as Lexus and Herm\u00e8s and has contributed to high-profile projects, including animations for the facade of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper in Dubai.
Takasho Digitec and Tangent have previously collaborated on several projects, including \u2018INAHO\u2019 showcased at Roppongi Art Night 2022, the Christmas tree installation at Midland Square, Nagoya (2022), the \u2018Gachirin\u2019 wall art at Ekoin Temple in Mount Koya, Wakayama Prefecture.
